Architectural Illustration

The architecture that I chose to use for this project is a strip of houses in Santorini, Greece. For those who do not know, Santorini is located on the volcanic island in the Aegean Sea and the buildings there appear to be cascading down the top of the mountainside. Like most other islands in the area, the reason for building away from the sea was to avoid pirates. The Cycladic style of architecture is white painted houses with blue doors with narrow roadways. The reason for the way that their buildings were created was to protect the community from the hard weather conditions and also because of their scarcity in materials. However, the charm of the architecture has even led to a theory that this city was part of the lost continent of Atlantis. This theory leads artists, writers, and mystics to create wonderful works. The architectural style is just fascinating to me so I felt it was something I really wanted to replicate and I added my own variations in the colors to make it stand out more.

Din Din Doggie Dinner Logo

This is actually the second design for this assignment. The first in comparison has less of an impact with its overall design. I feel the larger dog actually interacting with the products name is much more successful. Our overall color scheme for the project was to have neutrals that could be interchanged if needed. Working in a group was frustrating, however I don't think the finished logo would have turned out as well if done alone. It was more or less relying on the others that turned out to be the most frustrating.

Website Interface

I really enjoyed doing this assignment. The original website that we worked off of was absolutely terrible; yet the jewelry products were quite beautiful so I really wanted to include them in the finished website. I am pleased with the over all concept and colors, but I would have liked to fix the size of the buttons and some of the typography. Still, overall I think it was successful.

Dreamscape

The assignment of creating a new design of a plain image in the style of Salvador Dali was intriguing at first. However, once I started I did not find it that interesting or even fun and personally I think that shows in the finished product. His pieces didn't have an order or method to the madness and I think that was the most difficult part for my overall design.

Magazine Cover

I chose to create a tattoo and piercing magazine to have something a little different. I have a tattoo and piercing myself so I found the topic rather interesting and if it were a real magazine I figured others would find it intriguing as well. I went with a complimentary color scheme to really make everything pop. The typography used worked very well with the overall finished design because they were also rather interesting in their own way. I researched some other tattoo magazines to come up with the headlines.
